\u201c<\/span>Techniques<\/span> for Territorial Design and Management\u201d is a degree course which aims to provide students with professional training and expertise over three academic years.\u00a0 It is a career-oriented degree. Students who successfully complete the course will be able to join the Professional Register (in Italy Collegio dei Geometri)<\/i>, and therefore become eligible to practise as a Qualified Surveyor. The course is structured in such a way to provide both the foundation blocks and the professional expertise from the very first year, allowing graduates to develop skills in all the sectors of their profession: estimating, topography, construction, health and safety regulations, economics, land management and law.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The course is designed to provide study activities delivered in four key main areas: \u201cBasic Training\u201d, \u201cHealth and safety\u201d, \u201cArchitecture & Urban Planning\u201d, and \u201cConstruction and Environment\u201d. These areas will furthermore be combined using related and integrative activities and by numerous work experience placements for Training and Guidance.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\n

Basic Training<\/span><\/strong>: will provide learning material to strengthen students\u2019 technical knowledge for subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Statistics, and Graphic Representation. In certain cases, where appropriate, such activities will take place in laboratories.
\nHealth and Safety:<\/strong> students will be provided with strong platform knowledge relating to the application of health and safety regulations to business management processes and construction execution processes. This area of study will also integrate concepts relating to static safety hazards on construction sites.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Architecture and Urban Planning<\/span><\/strong>: Students will learn how to evaluate safety and salubrity of constructions, as well as the techniques to produce, read and compare the planning documentation at various levels and scales.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Construction and Environment<\/span><\/strong>: Students will gain the necessary knowledge to be able to control the complex issue of evolution of the territory, which envisage innovative models of territorial planning resulting from the processes of social and economic development. Topics explored will include hydraulic systems (e.g. managing the landscape and waterways), with consideration given to the safeguarding both the environment and existing buildings and preserving local and territorial identity. The student will therefore acquire the skills to competently evaluate the interrelation between building infrastructures, environmental risks and\/or social and economic consequences. <\/span><\/div>\n

Qualifying from this course will enable the graduates to work in the field of building and land management. They will be able to understand and manage the impact of engineering works on the territory. They will have acquired the skills to evaluate the impact of works and infrastructure on the development of the territory taking into consideration environmental and local factors. They will also be able to perform topographical and cartographic surveys and submit all collected data relating to the territory in digital format. Furthermore they could contribute to or carry out autonomously procedures for assessing the value of property or land assets. Finally they will be able to correctly manage compliance with all legislation and safety procedures regarding construction processes and security and all the technical and administrative procedures for land management, to ensure that all legal implications are satisfied. Graduating from the course will ensure access to the Professional Register (in Italy Collegi dei Geometri e Geometri Laureati<\/i>).<\/span><\/div>\n

The course was established after a deep and accurate analysis of the current situation regarding the profession as well as the job market prospects. It has been recognised that the Surveyor covers the long-established role of the building technician who has expertise in the area of analysing and assessing the technical standards of building materials, technical and economic evaluations, site surveying and modelling, managing some aspects of health and safety on a building site, as well as some aspects of urban planning and environmental impact and condition of buildings. Skills developed, specific to a Surveyor, do not interfere with those of a Structural or Civil Engineer. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The \u201cCollege of Surveyors\u201d of Marche region were involved from the very beginning in defining and structuring the course. Their involvement constitutes the direct link with the professional world, insomuch that the entire third year of the course is spent in work experience with established Surveyors Practices affiliated with UnivPM.<\/span><\/div>\n

The professional degree course is certified by the Department of Civil Engineering and Building Engineering and Architecture (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Civile, Edile e Architettura -DICEA). DICEA has been listed by MIUR among the departments of excellence and is ranked among the top departments in Italy for research in the construction sector. The course of study aims at developing innovative educational methods which are highly career-oriented and closely integrated with the professional bodies.<\/span><\/div>\n
