Features and aims of the course

The Course is fully delivered in English language and provides students with the opportunity to engage in a outstanding international environment. The Course starts from the basic knowledge acquired by students within the Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and deepens and integrates such knowledge with advanced and specialized knowledge in both traditional and innovative biomedical sectors. Specifically, the course focuses primarily, but not exclusively, on the bioengineering of the motor, cardiovascular, nervous, metabolic, and respiratory systems.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO STUDY

Training activities cover the following fields:

  • biomedical signal and image processing
  • biomechanics
  • modelling of physiological systems
  • bioinformatics and systems biology
  • robotics
  • biomedical measures
  • clinical engineering
  • bio-nanotechnologies
  • biomaterials
  • biofluid-dynamics
  • electrical and electromagnetic safety
  • ICT for healthcare – for transmission of biometric data
  • biometric data security

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The Course trains multi-purpose professional figures, able to perform correctly within:

  • companies (where they will design devices aimed at monitoring, diagnosis and therapeutic intervention)
  • clinical/health facilities (where they will apply the know-how in order to acquire and manage health technologies)
  • institutional research centres or companies (where they will analyse literature, apply and/or develop innovative methodologies and support the clinical validation of the developed products).

STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE

In Bioengeneering, the human being is at the centre of interest. Therefore, particular attention is given to the relationship between professors and students, which is considered of high importance. Most of the times trainees become an integral and active part of research groups: research collaborations with foreign universities and companies, in which students are involved within the traineeship, are remarkably numerous.

International students enrolled in the 1st year of the Course represent more than the 20%.
