Features and aims of the course

 

The degree course in Biomedical Laboratory Techniques is designed for those students who want to become health professionals with advanced theoretical and practical knowledge in laboratory sciences and techniques. Graduates will be able to responsibly and competently conduct biomedical and biotechnological lab analyses and researches in biochemistry, microbiology, virology, pharmacotoxicology, immunology, clinical pathology, hematology, cytology, histopathology.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The student gradually develops the essential knowledge and professional competences. Among the basic subjects of the first year of the course there are:

  • Propedeutical Sciences
  • General Biology and Biological Chemistry
  • Anatomy and histology
  • Linguistic and IT competences
  • Physiology
  • Lab organization and security

In the following year, more specific subjects will be taught, including:

  • Clinical biochemistry
  • Microbiology and clinical microbiology
  • General and clinical pathology
  • Pathological anatomy
  • Pharmacology
  • Genetic, cytopathological, immunohaematological and molecular biology techniques

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The biomedical laboratory technician can work in:

  • Biomedical and biotechnological analysis laboratories for diagnosis and research in public and private health centers
  • Animal health organizations
  • Animal health laboratories
  • Industries producing reagents and laboratory equipment
