Features and aims of the course
We mould professionals with knowledge in the fields of environment and ecosystems, global changes, hydrogeological, seismic and volcanic hazards, environmental pollution and degradation, monitoring techniques and environmental remediation technologies. On this scientific grounding lays the civil protection part of the course, centred on emergency forecasting, prevention and management, which makes this course unique in the Italian panorama. Having completed the course, students will be able to evaluate environmental quality and propose improvements, to perform physical and chemical, biological and ecotoxicological environmental analysis, to use information and communication tools for civil and environmental protection, to cooperate in the tackling of environmental and civil protection emergencies.

Students can further pursue the Master’s Degree to be able to take on managerial roles
STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE
Unmatched in all of Italy, this Course is set apart by its professionalising character and the fact that some of the professors work within bodies directly involved in civil and environmental protection. Students, who are followed from the first year and throughout the education process by tutors, have the opportunity to carry out highly professionalising work placements within Bodies operating in the environmental field (e.g. ARPA – Agency for Environmental Protection – Marche, Purification plants) and in civil protection (Marche Region).
The international projects ERASMUS, ERASMUS +, and Campus World allow students to carry out study and traineeship mobilities in over 45 affiliated universities all over the world.
The Department has been bestowed the “Department of Excellence” recognition by the Italian Ministry of education and is placed among the top ten in Italy for the quality of scientific research.
