The knowledge test is a non-selective assessment required for students enrolling in a three-year bachelor's degree program with open admission at the Università Politecnica delle Marche. It does not prevent enrollment but is intended to evaluate the initial preparation in the core subjects of the chosen program.
The test helps identify any weaknesses in basic knowledge, allowing students to approach their academic journey with greater awareness and confidence.
The test consists of multiple-choice questions and can be retaken during the first year. If any gaps are found, Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) are assigned and must be fulfilled within the first year of study.
For Bachelor’s Degrees with open access
you need to have an adequate initial preparation, which is assessed with a specific “knowledge test”.
THE TEST IS NOT SELECTIVE: it is helpful for orientation and for choosing the course of study.
You can still enrol, but you will be given OFAs.
OFAs are Additional Education Obligations that must be cleared with Maths lessons, at the end of which there is an examination (oral exam/test) as per calendar published on the site of Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences.
The knowledge test takes place on line on an IT platform. It is made of 40 multiple-choice questions, with only a correct answer among the five indicated, with a time limit of 60 minutes, on the following subjects:
You will be given 1 point for every correct answer, 0 (zero) for every incorrect or not given answer.
If you score less than 5 points in Mathematics, you will be given an OFA.

After doing the first test, additional activities will be scheduled regarding Mathematics, Modern and Contemporary History and general knowledge.
Clearing the OFA is necessary to take the exams of the subjects relevant to the test: general mathematics, political economy I and economic history.
The knowledge test takes place online on an IT platform. It is made of 20 multiple-choice questions, with a time limit of 30 minutes, on the following subjects:
You will be given 1 point for every correct answer, 0 (zero) for every incorrect or not given answer.
The test is considered passed with 8 correct answers, of which at least one for each subject area.

The Faculty of Engineering organises, and strongly recommends, a non-selective knowledge test to auto-evaluate your basic preparation.
The courses with restricted access are:
These courses imply selective tests (keep an eye on public notices).
The test is non-selective: it is a guidance tool designed to help you in choosing your degree program.
If you do not take the test or do not pass it, you will be assigned Additional Learning Requirements (OFA) to be fulfilled by August 9, 2025, according to the procedures established by the Faculty of Engineering. Failure to fulfill the OFA will result in the repetition of the first year of the program.
The OFA may be fulfilled through one of the following options:
Passing the OFA remedial test organized by the Faculty of Engineering;
Passing an exam in a mathematics-related subject (SSD codes from MAT/01 to MAT/09).
For all new students, the Faculty organizes Start-up Courses, which take place two weeks before the beginning of classes, according to a schedule published on the homepage of the Faculty of Engineering.
Due to their supportive nature and the fact that they are offered only once before the start of the academic year, these courses are recommended for all students, regardless of their test results.
The knowledge test takes place online on an IT platform. It is made of 30 multiple-choice questions, with a time limit of 75 minutes, on the following subjects:
You will be given 1 point for every correct answer, 0 (zero) for every incorrect answer and 0.25 points for every not given answer.
The test is considered passed by scoring 50% of the maximum points (15/30).
The required knowledge of Mathematics and Physics are in line with the program of second to last year of high school.

For the open-admission bachelor’s degree program
you are required to have an adequate initial preparation, which is assessed through a NON-SELECTIVE knowledge assessment test.
The test is held during two periods of the academic year: by December and by April, and it focuses on three core subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
If you do not pass the test, one or more OFAs – Additional Learning Requirements – will appear in your online academic record (Esse3).
For each assigned requirement (e.g., OFA Chemistry), you will be required to attend the corresponding online remedial course (e-learning format) provided by the University.
The remedial course must be completed:
⚠️ Attendance of the OFA course is mandatory in order to be eligible to take first-year exams.

You will be given 1 point for every correct answer, 0 (zero) for every incorrect or not given answer. The test is considered passed by answering correctly at least 2 out of 6 questions for every section. Regarding Physics, Chemistry and Biology, the test is merely an auto-evaluation for the student.
Candidates who score less than 2 correct answers out of 6 in Mathematics will be give an OFA, which needs to be cleared within the first year of study (by the 10th of August).
