The course aim is to provide graduate students with the knowledge and competencies that are necessary to face the challenges of the agricultural and agri-food industry in an innovative way and through an interdisciplinary approach. Students will attend common classes in the first two years and, in the third year, they will choose between these two curricula: Viticulture and oenology or Agricultural technologies. In both cases students will benefit from a dynamic and friendly environment, from an excellent relationship with professors, and from practice activities (exercises, educational visits), which will give them the opportunity to acquire both, theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Another peculiarity of this course consists in the opportunity to develop an experimental thesis project in state-of-the-art laboratories, or to get in touch, during the study path, with innovative experiments carried out by companies dealing in the fields of viticulture and wine, zootechnics, cereals, as well as by fruit farms and similar.
The course starts from fundamental subjects (plant biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, genetics, statistics, economics) and then focuses on professional-oriented subjects:
In the third year students will study specific topics related to viticulture and oenology:
or to agricultural technologies
The course in Agricultural sciences and technologies trains students to exercise the profession of junior agronomist and – for those who choose the curriculum in “Viticulture and oenology” – oenologist. Graduate students are employed in wineries or in other sectors related to agriculture, as well as in public bodies, trade associations, or as consultants in the phytosanitary field, at regional, national, or international level. The course trains future experts in the sectors of agri-food (in general) or wine. At the end of the course, graduate students will have the opportunity to enter the labour market or to enrol in the Masters’ program.
An important part of the training consists in activities carried out in well-equipped and state-of-the-art laboratories within the university, as well as in numerous educational visits of experimental fields, wineries, and other companies of the agri-food sector, but also in seminars and conferences, within and outside the Marche region.
Marche Polytechnic University courses in Agriculture rank 2nd, at national level, among University degrees in Agriculture and 1st with regard to internationalisation.
At students’ disposal the Experimental farm and the Botanical garden “Selva di Gallignano”
