Features and aims of the course

The course provides the cultural and scientific basis for practicing the profession in the construction sector and allows the theoretical and practical preparation necessary to train the professional figure of the design engineer. The main peculiarity of this training course is the innovative association of the technical-scientific knowledge of the engineer with the historical, humanistic and aesthetic culture of the architect, thus allowing the training of a cultured, versatile and skilled designer in the synthesis of skills. The Course has European validity and is the only Engineering course that gives access to both the State Exam for the profession of Engineer and that of Architect, immediately allowing you to operate in all countries of the Union.

The A.A. degree course 2024-25 is renewed. In the last two years of the course it will be possible to choose between three training areas:

  1. DESIGN IN THE NAVAL ENVIRONMENT;
  2. DESIGN AND ENHANCEMENT OF THE BUILT HERITAGE;
  3. ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION.

In addition to the traditional subjects necessary to learn to design and build, the course therefore specializes by integrating disciplines ranging from the valorization of built heritage to architectural and engineering projects and also introducing design in a naval environment, a specificity linked to the city of Ancona. More information is available in the course flyer.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

This study path is considered strategic as it is the only course that enables engineers to sign restoration and integration projects of listed buildings. In addition to traditional subjects, which focus on the building activity, the course pays particular attention to restoration. For this reason, beside typical and fundamental exams, essential to train design engineers, the course provides a series of optional exams which widen the panorama of future job opportunities by addressing students towards three different professional profiles.

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The course is recognised at European level. Moreover, it is the only course that entitles graduate students to undertake the State examination for authorisation to practise as both, an Engineer and Architect, and to practice the profession/work in all the European Union countries. Graduate students in Building Engineering Architecture are highly competent and qualified and have access to a wide range of professional opportunities, hold posts corresponding to a particularly high degree of responsibility in institutions, private and public administration authorities and bodies, architecture offices, and engineering companies.

STRENGHTS OF THE COURSE

It entitles graduate students to undertake the State examination for authorisation to practise as both, an Engineer and Architect, and is immediately valid in all European Union countries.
Research laboratories are provided with modern equipment, also thanks to the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research contribution, which awarded the Department of Civil Engineering and Building Engineering Architecture with the title of Department of excellence.
Students are involved in the analysis of issues concerning current big society challenges, such as hydrogeological and seismic risks, heritage protection and valorisation through design projects, restorations and IT, and environmental mitigation through projects focused on sustainability and resiliency. This degree is considered particularly strategic in Italy as it is the only course that enables engineers to sign restoration and integration projects of listed buildings.
