Features and aims of the course

The study plan offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary view of the integrated process of product, system and plant development, and is itself divided into 4 curricula, whose contents have been defined in close collaboration with a large number of companies operating in a wide variety of sectors, both nationally and internationally. Graduates are able to tackle advanced planning issues, even of considerable complexity, and manage the innovation and development of new products and new technological processes, such as:

  • assisted mechanical design;
  • production management, organization and planning;
  • construction of components and complex mechanical and mechatronic systems;
  • design of energy plants, systems and processes.

The Course complies with European quality standards and is EUR-ACE certified.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The study plan encompasses subjects that are common to the various curricula and curriculum-specific, highly professionalizing subjects. The four curricula are:

  • Mechanical Design, focused on the most advanced aspects of design
  • Mechatronics
  • Production Systems and Innovative Technologies, which explores the aspects related to new production technologies and to advanced production management
  • Energy, more focused on the energy and thermofluidodynamic aspects of Mechanical Engineering

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Mechanical Engineers finds work opportunities in a wide array of professional environments, such as:

  • companies that design and produce mechanical and electromechanical components and systems, as well as plants, also trough highly automated technologies
  • management and internal logistics departments, technical-commercial departments
  • companies and organizations in which energy managers are required, offices dealing in the field of design, installation and testing of systems for the production, transport and end uses of energy

Liberal profession (registration in the Italian official association of engineers “ordine degli ingegneri” is required)

STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE

Courses are articulated so that the average number of students always allows for a direct student-professor relationship.

The 4 innovative curricula, alongside laboratory activities that develop specific professional and soft skills while preparing the student for the teamwork that characterizes modern engineering practice, guarantee full employability.
The Department to which most of the professors belong has obtained the “Department of Excellence” recognition for the high level of quality of its research activities, which is attested also by the number of its spin-offs (3 active and 3 that have now become actual businesses).
