Features and aims of the course

The Degree Course in Sustainable Industrial Engineering prepares an engineer with a solid basic technical preparation in the cultural areas of industrial engineering and with specific skills in the mechanical, energy and electrical fields, favoring basic knowledge and methodological aspects.

Graduates in Eco-sustainable industrial engineering have the specific skills to:

– apply mathematical methods to model, analyze and solve engineering problems

– analyze the machines, in relation to their operation, their energy efficiency and the resistance of the related components;

– develop, from a functional, constructive and energetic point of view, the design of components, simple mechanical systems and simple electrical energy distribution systems;

– develop the design of simple electricity distribution systems and simple systems for the production of energy from renewable sources from a functional, constructive and energy point of view;

– choose the materials and technological processes to be used in the manufacturing of components and products;

– manage and use the machinery inside a plant;

– operate independently and work effectively in work groups;

– interface, with technical language properties and knowledge of basic concepts, with specialists from other engineering sectors;

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The first year is mainly but not exclusively dedicated to basic scientific training. In the second year, courses are provided relating to basic training and the acquisition of engineering knowledge and skills typical of energy, electrical and mechanical engineering. The third year will be dedicated to completing the acquisition of engineering knowledge and skills typical of electrical and mechanical engineering, to carrying out the internship and to the final exam.
The course includes 18 CFUs of free choice of the student and the carrying out of an internship.
Upon graduation, the recent graduate will be in possession of a technical language and a wealth of basic and specialized knowledge, which, in addition to allowing him to operate independently or within working groups, adapting to the various industrial realities, will constitute the fundamental premise to allow him to effectively face the continuation of the master’s training course.

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The main employment opportunity is the continuation of studies towards the achievement of a master’s degree, mainly in the classes LM-33 or LM- 30, in the same University or in another Italian university.

Furthermore, graduates will work mainly, but not only, in the fields of energy and industrial engineering and in general in all those sectors that require new ways of facing the design problem and environmental sustainability will be the fulcrum around which the choices will also move. in terms of implementation, performance, cost and marketing. Graduates will therefore find employment in numerous work fields, from the manufacturing industry to that of services, to sectors ranging from production systems, to energy management, to its transport, to energy plants, industries for the production of equipment and machinery. electrical and electronic power systems, for industrial automation and robotics, municipal service companies; public and private entities operating in the energy supply sector; companies producing components for electrical and tHVAC systems; design studies in the energy field; companies and civil and industrial bodies in which the figure of the energy manager is required;
Employment in public administrations or in the free profession is also possible.

STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE

The course aims to train an industrial engineer capable of designing and manufacturing eco-sustainable products and production processes with high energy efficiency. Environmental sustainability will be a fundamental factor for the conception of goods and services in the coming years. The environmental and economic repercussions, the methodological approaches and the technologies supporting these approaches will have to become an indispensable knowledge base for a neo-engineer who will work in all fields of engineering, especially the industrial one.
In order to obtain a new professional figure (engineer for industrial eco-sustainability) compared to the mechanical or energy engineer, it was considered useful to draw on Scientific Disciplinary Sectors present at the University of Urbino (Uniurb) which will be able to provide basic and complementary specialist elements compared to the knowledge provided by the Faculty of Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Marche (UnivPM). Uniurb, in addition to being a university center of reference for the territory of the province of Pesaro, has relevant skills for what concerns the assessment of the environmental impact and the approaches to implement the Circular Economy. These and other issues are punctually included in the training course to complete the cultural background of the figure.
