Features and aims of the course

 

Graduates from Environment and Workplace Prevention Techniques are health professionals working for the promotion and protection of public health. They implement prevention strategies, by checking and monitoring hygienic and safety conditions in living and working settings, hygiene in food and drinks, hygiene and safety in public health centres and vet centers and in workplaces. Graduates carrying out inspection and supervisory tasks are investigative police officers.  Graduates will be able to work as employed in public and private companies and as free-lance counsellors or RSPP (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione – Responsible for Protective and Preventive Services).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Teachers are experts

  • Healthcare (i.e. Anatomy, Hygiene, Occupational Medicine)
  • Engineering (chemical plants, industrial physics),
  • Environmental health engineering and forensic medicine,
  • Veterinary medicine
  • Sociology
  • Fire prevention (Fire Brigade officers)
  • Food safety and safety and health in the workplace.

The placement is integral part of the course. It is carried out at public or private centers which the university cooperates with.

YOUR FUTURE CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates from this course work to prevent accidents which could cause injuries and damages. They detect and assess risks, promote prevention and protection through the application and organization of technical strategies, as employed in public and private settings and as independent professionals. If Prevention Technicians work efficiently, the health and life quality of the whole community will benefit from it.

STRENGTHS OF THE COURSE

1500 hours of “hands-on” placements in public and private centres in the Marche Region, 177 hours of laboratory sessions, seminars and other practical and vocational activities make this course highly qualifying. On completion of the course graduates will receive the following additional professional qualifications usable in a professional context, such as

  • Certificate for Prevention and Protection Service Manager (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione Aziendale (R.S.P.P.)) – Module C (Legislative Decree 81/08 and Agreement between State and Regions of 7 July2016)
  • Certificate of technical competence as “Fire Officer” in companies with a high fire risk, issued by Provincial Fire Brigate (Ministerial Decree of 10 March 1998 and subsequent modifications and integrations)
  • Certificate for Asbestos Risks Manager (Law 257/1992 and Ministerial Decree of 6 September 1994)
  • Certificate as Responsible for the implementation of First-Aid measures (Ministerial Decree 388/2003)
